A Night Out with Beggars Walz
Time & Location
About the Event
Cancer spares no one. But we refuse to back down to this disease.
On August 13, 2018, Jenny Lewis was diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma in her leg. After nine months of ups and downs, on May 9, 2019, Jenny died of a rare form of sarcoma known as PEComa.
Jenny was a daughter, a sister, a friend to 100s, my cherished wife and a loving and committed mother to our two beautiful children. Her love of health and fitness was unmatched. For this reason, we have created a team in her honour for the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
You may have heard of The Ride: it’s a two-day, 200-kilometre cycling journey through the Canadian countryside that we’ll be making on June 13 and 14, 2020.
Our team is called JENNY'S POETS IN MOTION, and we will proudly wear our jerseys and embody her spirit as we spread the word, collect support and ultimately sweat it out over two long and challenging days. Rain or shine.
We're not only going to finish this ride, but we're going to enjoy the journey along the way, together. Just as Jenny would want it. We want to embrace Jenny's love of the outdoors, healthy living and fitness. Train hard, get in shape, raise a lot of money for a good cause and simply come together because of Jenny. I know that she would find great joy and happiness knowing that her memory lives on such an active event that brings people together for a good cause.
I hope you will be a part of it, anyway you can … on May 23, 2020, we are excited to host a fundraising event to help support our team, JENNY'S POETS IN MOTION. There will be live music by Beggars Waltz, live karaoke, auction items, baked goods and chocolate for sale. All proceeds from this event will go towards our team's fundraising (each rider must raise at least $2,500).
This will be an amazing opportunity to come together in Jenny's memory. She loved social events and would want you to get out of the house, have a few drinks and celebrate life. Her life, your life and all the good things we can achieve together.
The night begins at 8 p.m. at Creeds Coffee Bar. 390 Dupont Street.
Hope to see you there,
